SOYA and www.soya.com.au is run by Mixed Media Pty Ltd (ABN: 58 109 435 065). Your use of the website is subject to your agreement to the terms below.

'SOYA' means the Qantas Spirit Of Youth Awards. SOYA commences on 8th November 2011. During this period, any eligible Artist who submits works to SOYA that falls within one or more of the eleven (11) defined SOYA categories will become automatically eligible for SOYA.

There are eleven (11) prizes (one prize for each Category) for SOYA. The eleven categories of SOYA are:

Craft & Object Design

Architecture & Interior Design
Animation

Each SOYA prize includes a $5,000 cash grant from Qantas and mentoring by a creative industry professional as notified by SOYA, to be used for professional development. In addition to this, winners will also receive a major prize of a return international airfare, an allowance for eight nights accommodation, and a pass to an overseas industry related event or experience.

There will be one (1) winner per Category and they must travel to pre-determined destinations on fixed dates as per the table below.

*Please note that due to circumstances beyond SOYA's control, if a particular event or flight is cancelled or the destination is deemed unsafe to travel to at SOYA's discretion an alternate prize of equivalent value will be awarded to the category winner.

The winners for each Category of SOYA will be announced by SOYA on the website as per the table above.

Entrants can submit multiple examples of their works to SOYA and enter an unlimited number of categories. It is possible that the same person might win more than one SOYA Category. SOYA's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

You accept that SOYA is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners.

You warrant that the submission is your own original work and that the details you have provided in this submission form are correct. You also acknowledge that SOYA is in no way responsible for the production of your submission.

SOYA accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries.

The total SOYA prize value is up to AUD$120,000 based on the recommended retail value at the time of printing. SOYA accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prizes.

The SOYA Travel & Event prize is tied to a fixed departure date. The winner will be awarded with a return International Airfare departing from Sydney. Winners will be flown in to Sydney on or the day before the day of their international departure. The winner will not accrue Qantas Frequent Flyer points on the prize travel.

The winner will also receive an accommodation allowance of $1500 to cover eight nights accommodation in their allocated destination, with the exception of Arles (Photography), which will be pre-booked due to heavy demand. A partial accommodation allowance will be allocated for the Paris leg of the Photography winner's trip. All accommodation bookings besides Arles will be the responsibility of the winner. The winner is responsible for all costs incurred over and above accommodation and breakfast charges.

At the winners personal expense and pending Qantas Flight availability, they are permitted to change their return date prior to initial departure, should they wish to extend their travel for no longer than a twelve month period from the date of departure.

Prizes are not exchangeable, transferable or redeemable for cash or other goods or services and all travel must be undertaken in accordance with the departure dates specified. Each prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if the winner is unable to use the prize as stated. There can be no changes made to travel arrangements once tickets are issued. If the prize is not utilised as stated it will be forfeited.

Finalists will be notified by phone and confirmed in writing by email. The finalists and category winners names and entry profiles will be announced and also published on the SOYA website and in/on selected Qantas media channels.

Entry is open to creatives aged 18 -30. To be eligible for entry in the competition, entrants must be aged 18 as 14th February 2012 and under 31 as at 31st December 2012.

SOYA reserves the right to award a prize to the next best entry in the event an entrant is unable to satisfy these terms and conditions or forfeits or doesn't claim a prize.

Entry details remain the property of SOYA. The name and photograph of SOYA winners may be used for promotional purposes by SOYA, unless the winner otherwise notifies SOYA at the time of accepting their prize. You grant SOYA a non-exclusive licence in perpetuity to utilise your attached submission in whole or in part for Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards ('SOYA') and any promotional/archival purposes. Copyright in the submission remains your property.

Winners must participate in the SOYA365 social media channels, Facebook, Twitter & Youtube at agreed intervals throughout the 12 month mentorship and overseas travel.

The intellectual property rights in all content on the SOYA Website are owned by and/or licensed to SOYA. The content is protected by Australian and international copyright laws. All rights are reserved by SOYA and the individual artists.

Code of Conduct

You shall use the website for lawful purposes only. You shall not pass or transmit via the Website any material which violates in any way upon the rights of others, which is unlawful, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. SOYA may review the contents of the Website and it reserves the right to edit or to remove any content including these Terms.

Limitation of Liability

You agree that your use of the website is at your sole risk. The website is provided on an 'as is' basis. By using the Website you agree to release from any losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind arising from the Website.

Privacy Policy

In accordance with the Guidelines for Federal World Wide Websites, SOYA provides the following privacy statements.

Site Visit Data: SOYA makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes: the user's server address, the user's top level domain name, the date and time of the visit, which country you are from, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited and the type of browser used. No attempt is made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider's logs.
Personal Information: SOYA will only record your email address or other supplied details if you complete a form online. Supplied information will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list unless you have requested this. Unless required by law, we will not use your email or other addresses for any other purpose, and will not disclose them, without your express consent.
Cookies: We use web browser cookies on this website. Cookies are small pieces of information we store on your computer however, these cookies do not contain information by which SOYA can identify you.
