Scottish born Elizabeth Ann Macgregor is passionate about making art accessible to everyone and is an advocate for the arts on all levels. Her first job as a bus driving curator fired her commitment to engaging new audiences with the work of living artists. Since taking over as Director of the MCA in 1999, Liz Ann has transformed the institution and is now overseeing a $53m redevelopment to cater to its growing audience.

In 2000 she was awarded a Centenary Medal for services to contemporary art, in 2007 the Equity Trustees CEO award for Significant Innovation, and more recently, the 2008 Veuve Clicquot Award. This year she received an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list and the Australia Council Medal.
