By Katherine Field

When Tropfest founder John Polson was starting out, he cold called acclaimed director George Miller for advice.

It led to meetings where Miller would give Polson invaluable insights into his own career and success.

Now a leading Hollywood TV and movie director, Polson, 42, wants to do the same for a lucky young Australian filmmaker as a mentor for the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA).

Polson will pick a filmmaker up to the age of 30 who will be invited to join him in Los Angeles and work on his current projects, including crime show Without A Trace and several movies.

Wolf & Cub, back on the prowl

l_e672e5055c6a4e5d469b648b2e0610b4Let's say you have a pet. You keep it locked away in a little box for a good few months, then one day you decide to let it loose for a couple of weeks to explore our nation. Like this pet, Wolf & Cub (winners of the Music category in 2006) have been very studiously weaving their sonic magic into what shall be their second album. All cooped up and nowhere to go, they decided to escape the studio for a couple of weeks and tear it up in our nation?s capitals instead.

With their comeback tour a sold out success, the boys are headed back into the studio to complete said album. Miss them already? Fear not as they've just signed, sealed and delivered their new EP, One To The Other. Produced by Christopher Colonna, the crazy brainiac behind electro-pop, punk-beats outfit the Bumblebeez. Its out now through Dot Dash.
