Stephen Pavlovic’s Modular Records has been an undeniable force in cementing Australia’s place in today’s international music scene. At just 18 ‘Pav’ moved from Canberra to Sydney and dove into a succession of jobs he wasn’t qualified for, including booking venues, touring local and international bands such as seminal three-piece Nirvana, and setting up music festivals and indie record labels. In 1998 Pav founded Modular; since then the label has introduced the world to The Presets, The Avalanches, Cut Copy, Wolfmother, The Living End, Ben Lee, Jack Johnson, Van She and many more. The label has expanded into booking with Modular Touring, as well as marketing with Modular Ideas. Modular is now an internationally recognised brand, with branches in New York and London.
